Chinese domestic lithium carbonate prices soften as 2018 starts

China's domestic lithium carbonate spot market dipped as the lithium industry entered 2018. The end-of-year break was major factor in the cooling of the market.

Activity in the domestic Chinese lithium market cooled down at the start of 2018 mainly because of the end-of-year break, lithium producers and consumers have told Industrial Minerals.

The spot price for battery-grade lithium carbonate (min 99.5% Li2CO3) reached unparalleled highs of 170,000-180,000 yuan ($26,168-27,708) per tonne on November 2...
