Nabaltec to set up US plants on healthy hydroxide demand

Demand for specialty alumina hydroxides is increasing in applications including flame retardants to replace bromine-based flame retardants, which are gradually being phased out.

Germany-based specialty alumina producer Nabaltec AG will set up two new production facilities in the United States for producing refined hydroxide, the company said. 

The announcement comes at a time of strong fundamentals in alumina hydroxide end markets in North America.
