Northern White sand demand to ease in Permian Basin, rail boss says

The growing use of locally sourced brown sand in Texas fracking operations is creating uncertainty for freight operator Union Pacific, but Canadian National Railway is seeing a boom.

Freight company Canadian National Railway (CNR) has seen revenues boom from the shipping of frac sand, while sand from the US states of Wisconsin and Minnesota heads northward, US rail company Union Pacific warns of "uncertainty" and the state of Texas finds local supplies.
