The 'worst of the effects' of Ciner's capacity expansions are over – Solvay CEO

Despite forecasting a €50 million decrease in soda ash profits for 2018, the company believes it has weathered the downward pressure caused by additional capacity brought by Ciner Group.

Solvay has seen the worst of the effects of the "new Turkish volumes" of soda ash capacity brought on stream by Ciner Group, and conditions should improve even with Kazan Soda yet to reach full capacity, according to chief executive officer Jean-Pierre Clamadieu.
