SQM reports earnings up 54% in strong 2017 performance

Higher lithium prices and consistently strong demand mean Chilean producer is ready to meet demand for battery materials, chief executive says in conference call.

Chilean iodine and lithium producer SQM increased its earnings by 53.6% year-on-year in 2017, it has announced.

As well as raising its earnings for the year to $427.7 million from $278.3 million in 2016, in the same comparison it increased gross profit by 24% to $762.5 million from $611...
