Zircon buyers mull substitution amid Q2 price increases

Zircon prices are set to increase in the second quarter, with Iluka and RBM already announcing rises, but the threat of substitution into the likes of alumina is also rising.

Zircon prices are likely to rise in the second quarter of 2018, traders, suppliers and end-users predicted.

Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) has informed customers that it is raising its zircon prices to $1,500 per tonne from $1,200 per tonne previously, effective April 1, multiple market participants have told Industrial Minerals....
