Chinese fluorspar imports double in 2017 to cover lower domestic output

Chinese consumers have added to market tightness by purchasing material on the international market to service domestic fluorspar consumption.

Chinese consumers imported 140,228 tonnes of fluorspar over 2017, up 47% from 75,086 tonnes the previous year, after environmental controls in China strangled domestic production.
