Metro Mining starts bauxite production at Queensland asset

The Australian company has a number of supply agreements in place with China-based alumina and aluminium producers, which have been affected by disruptions of their local bauxite supplies during rounds of government inspections and closures last year.

Queensland-based Metro Mining started bauxite mining operations at its Bauxite Hills site on April 13, with a first shipment of 60,000 tonnes earmarked for a Chinese buyer, the company announced on Monday April 16.
