Rio Tinto strengthens Chinese ties via Chinese mineral exploration JV with Minmetals

Rio Tinto is strengthening its ties with Chinese mining firms, forming a joint venture (JV) with state-owned Minmetals to explore mineral deposits initially in China and then more widely, subject to regulatory approval.

Following a technical collaboration contract signed in November 2017, the two companies signed a JV agreement on Thursday June 7, witnessed by Rio Tinto chief executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques and Minmetals president Guo Wenqing.
