Glass companies try to close soda ash contracts early with EU production growing

Growth in the glass sector, the largest end-market for soda ash, has gone up for the fourth consecutive year, which is translating into price rises for the raw material.

Glass production by the 28 member countries of the EU reached its highest level for nine years in 2017, with producers manufacturing 35.8 million tonnes of glass, generating more demand and building stronger prices for soda ash.
