Indian port suspended over the weekend on bauxite, coal pollution concerns

Environmental officials briefly suspended operations at the port of Okha, a non-major bauxite and coal hub, due to dust control issues. Soda ash producers may have had their raw material supplies temporarily disrupted.

The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in western India suspended operations at the port of Okha over the past weekend due to a violation of environmental pollution regulations, Industrial Minerals heard on Monday July 9.

The bauxite, coal, limestone and soda ash trades all came under scrutiny.
