US to look at 25% rate for Chinese mineral tariffs

The Trump administration has asked its trade authorities to consider a 25% import duty rate on Chinese minerals rather than the 10% rate it officially proposed in July.

The US government is considering increasing the proposed import tariffs for a range of Chinese mineral commodities to 25% from the originally proposed 10% rate.

There will now be a consultation period before the tariffs are imposed. The US government has extended its previous deadline for submission of comments from August 30...
