Industrial Minerals proposes to launch an assessment of the Wisconsin 20/40 mesh frac sand price.

Industrial Minerals is proposing the launch of a monthly assessment of the price of Northern white frac sand, 20/40 mesh, API, ex-mine Wisconsin, under the following specifications:

Northern white frac sand, 20/40 mesh, API, ex-mine Wisconsin

Type: Assessed range

Frequency: Monthly, third Thursday of the month

Basis: Ex-mine

Grade: API, 20/40 mesh

Currency: US dollars

Unit: Per short ton

Minimum lot size: 100 short tons

The launch of this price is intended to provide pricing information for the frac sand market in the United States.

Industrial Minerals has identified rising demand for a benchmark price for frac sand. Prices for frac sand vary widely according to the location of origin, due to high logistics costs, but sustained demand for coarse mesh sand from Wisconsin means that this product is a key price factor for buyers, even if they source other grades of sand from nearer to their operations.

The consultation period to provide feedback on the proposed launch of this price will end one month from the date of this pricing notice, on September 20, with the price being launched on the same day if successful.

To provide feedback on this price, or if you would like to provide price information by becoming a data submitter, please contact William Clarke by email at: pricing@indmin.com. Please add the subject heading FAO: William Clarke, re: frac sand.
