Short supply being played upon by Chinese fluorspar producers

The fluorspar market in China is short of supply for export, although this is common at this time of year due to the winter and the long run-up to the Chinese new year. And there is speculation that market participants are using this to achieve higher prices.

The Chinese winter and the continued government-led environmental crackdown were reported to have further limited the availability of fluorspar for export, although some market participants believed that producers were withholding stocks to push prices higher.
