Noranda completes chemical-grade alumina expansion of Gramercy refinery

The company has completed a year-long expansion to achieve a total non-met alumina capacity, in both dry and wet hydrate, of up to 800,000 tonnes per year.

Noranda Alumina began commercial operations at its Gramercy, Louisiana, alumina refinery in the United States this week after completing the final phase of its expansion project for chemical-grade alumina (CGA) in early December, the company said on Thursday December 20.
