Iodine contract market stays above spot price; both assessments move up

The iodine contract market price remained higher than the spot market price for the second month in a row due to consumers looking to sign longer-term contracts and with the iodine market still undersupplied.

Iodine prices in both the spot and contract markets rose in December 2018, with the contract price remaining above the spot price for a second consecutive month.

The contract price moved ahead of the spot market price for the first time in almost two years in November.
