Chinese spherical graphite exports up 36% in 2018, prices well supported

Rapid growth in demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) continues to drive China’s domestic and export spherical graphite markets, with significant demand coming from Asia.

Chinese exports of spherical graphite, including uncoated and coated material, totaled 55,755 tonnes in 2018, up by 36% from 40,871 tonnes in the prior year. Over the same comparison, the total value of natural graphite exports grew by 35% to $171.15 million from $126.55 million previously.
