Rio Tinto’s TiO2-slag production falls 15% vs 2017

Furnace shutdowns were a major factor in the decrease, but Rio Tinto predicts a possible rise in output of 100,000 tonnes in 2019.

Rio Tinto’s production of titanium-dioxide (TiO2) slag fell by 15% year on year to 1.1 million tonnes in 2018 due to furnace shutdowns in Canada and labor disputes in South Africa, the company announced on January 18.
