Recent iodine price increases hurting derivatives producers

Iodine derivative prices have lagged behind the latest price increases in iodine itself, which is hitting margins at derivatives producers.

The iodine spot market was steady this week but the sharp price rise over December and January is squeezing margins at derivatives producers.

Fastmarkets IM assessed the price of iodine, min 99.5%, delivered Europe/US, cif Asia, at $26.25-28.50 per kg on February 7.

The assessment on December 6 was $25.50-27.00...
