China leads offshore drilling boom

Offshore drilling activity is at its highest level in over three years, driven by record Chinese activity, while US onshore activity remains sluggish despite upbeat outlooks from frackers.

The number of active offshore drilling rigs in the world, excluding North America, was up by 56 year on year in February to 250, according to data from the oilfield services company Baker Hughes.
