US asks for delay to EU cancer classification for TiO2, cobalt

The US delegation to the WTO has challenged the EU's proposals to classify titanium dioxide (TiO2) and cobalt as carcinogens.

The United States has challenged European Union proposals to label titanium dioxide and cobalt as carcinogens on free-trade grounds.

A communication issued by the US delegation to the World Trade Organization (WTO) dated March 21 raised concerns that the new labeling could represent a non-tariff barrier to trade.
