VW to set up German battery production facility

German car maker Volkswagen will partner with a battery producer to make its own cells in Lower Saxony.

Volkswagen will set up a cell production facility in Germany to supply its battery needs, the company said this week. The move will result in increased battery capacity inside Europe, raising demand for battery minerals in that market.
