China threatens to cut off US military buyers of rare earths

Chinese state media is suggesting that the country will try to restrict the use of its rare earths by the US military, a move that is unlikely to scare buyers but is good news for non-Chinese producers.

China intends to make its new rare earth policies public soon, a spokesperson for Chinese state planning agency NDRC said on Monday June 17, raising fears that United States military buyers will be cut out of the market.
