Current iodine prices could spark restart of Chile’s Eloisa project

The latest iodine price increase pushed prices to more than $30 per kg, and now market participants wonder whether the Eloisa project could bring its capacity for 2,000 tonnes per year back to the market.

Iodine market participants were querying whether current prices could encourage investment by other former players in the sector, after a recent increase pushed the price of iodine up by $2 per kg overnight.
