Calcined alumina prices drop on high availability for rest of year

Prices for ground and medium soda material have dropped in quarterly and half-yearly contracts, but the prices for both brown and white fused alumina have ticked up slightly.

The calcined alumina market weakened again in early September, with strong supply and insufficient demand weighing on contract prices for the refractory raw material.

Following an earlier tick downward in initial contracts for the second half of the year, the market has seen prices fall further over the past month.
