WSAC 19: Soda ash market divided on contract prices

Participants in the market expressed widely differing views on the current state of the global soda ash trade at the recent World Soda Ash Conference, indicating that producers may struggle to get the price increases they are seeking.

Soda ash producers described the market as being balanced-to-tight and spoke of an increase in production costs, while consumers pointed to slowing demand, both in the hope of achieving their desired price movement, at the World Soda Ash Conference in Cannes, France, on September 24-26.
