US frac sand mine closures, layoffs continue

A massive oversupply of frac sand is continuing to drive mine closures in the United States.

The largest frac sand miners in the United States are cutting their  costs and production with the oversupply of proppants showing no sign of abating.

Frac sand prices have been under heavy pressure throughout 2019, due to a massive oversupply caused by rapid capacity expansion in 2017 and 2018.
