Silicon carbide prices drop on lower 2020 offers, weak demand

Contraction was evident in November’s price assessments for both abrasive and refractory grades of silicon carbide, although the main drop was in the latter, because of sluggish end-market conditions.

Market prices for silicon carbide (SiC) grades have shown another drop over November 2019, with the demand side of the supply chain continuing to underperform due to weakness in end-markets.

Fastmarkets assessed a slight decline in the prices for abrasive grades of SiC, but it was in the refractory grades...
