FOCUS: Downbeat start to year for frac sand demand, better picture for barite

Data from oilfield service company Baker Hughes has shown that onshore oilfield activity in the United States slowed through 2019, while global offshore drilling picked up.

The progress of the figures in the Baker Hughes rig count painted a gloomy picture for frac sand demand in the United States over 2019, but the situation for high-grade barite was more positive.
