NEWSBREAK: Explosion at Almatis’ German plant

The company said the calcination and grinding operations at the site are not affected but the extent of the damage is unknown.

Specialty alumina producer Almatis GmbH has reported an explosion that affected its sintering plant in Ludwingshafen, Germany.

The producer said a fire, followed by an explosion, occurred at the site at around 1:45am German time in the night between Wednesday and Thursday. The causes of the incident are still unknown...
