Almatis relies on own facilities to meet tabular alumina orders after fire

Specialty alumina producer Almatis said it will rely on its global supply chain of manufacturing facilities to fulfill existing orders of tabular alumina following a fire at its German plant last week.

The manufacturer of products including tabular, calcined and reactive alumina suffered a fire and explosion at its main plant in Ludwingshafen, Germany, the night between 15-16 January.

The sintering production line for tabular alumina was the main operation affected, while the calcination and grinding lines were reportedly unaffected.
