Slashed flows from Mozambique cut China’s flake graphite imports in December

Shipments of flake graphite from Mozambique to China totaled 2,362 tonnes in December, a significant drop of 74.8% from 9,378 tonnes in November, according to official (but unconfirmed) data seen by Fastmarkets.

Among shipments from country in southeast Africa, those from Syrah Resources - an Australian company that operates the Balama graphite project in Mozambique - hold a share of 75% of China’s total imported flake graphite, according to market sources.
