European, US soda ash prices soften on weaker export demand

Prices for soda ash in Europe and the United States have softened against a backdrop of weaker demand in export markets, resulting in a build-up of product in those regions’ domestic markets – which are also experiencing weak demand.

Fastmarkets’ monthly assessment of the price for soda ash, natural and synthetic, dense and light, large contracts, delivered Europe, was €190-235 ($211-261) per tonne on Thursday February 27.

This price was down from €215-240 per tonne in the previous assessment, a price which had been steady since last September.
