Oilfield market rout threatens barite, frac sand demand

Tumbling oil prices and plummeting oilfield company shares are flashing a warning sign for oilfield mineral demand.

Oil prices have come under heavy pressure from fears that the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) will disrupt global manufacturing and demand. This threatens to reduce the pace of drilling and fracking, and limit demand for the minerals used in these activities.
