Tianqi Lithium postpones commissioning of Australian processing plant amid tight liquidity

Major lithium producer Tianqi Lithium Corp has postponed the commissioning of the first phase of its battery-grade lithium hydroxide processing plant in Kwinana, Western Australia, due to rising liquidity issues following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Tianqi disclosed the postponement of the project in a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Monday March 23 in response to questions from the securities regulator in China’s Sichuan province, where the company is based.

A new timeframe for the commissioning of the project was not provided.
