Rio Tinto halts South African Ti-slag production, Quebec output under threat

Rio Tinto has closed its mineral sands and titanium slag operation at Richards Bay Minerals in South Africa, after the country’s government issued an order intended to contain the spread of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus pandemic.

All mining operations at the site, which produces zircon, rutile, and titanium slag, will be halted at midnight local time on March 26, for 21 days.
