Soda ash factories continue production as flat-glass furnaces go on hot-hold

Soda ash factories in Europe were continuing to produce material at regular volumes, having been deemed essential business, but key end-markets for their output have stopped consuming because glass production has fallen to a bare minimum.
Sodium bicarbonate, a dry-store food product, is made from
soda ash, which itself has pharmaceutical applications. This
was why producers were allowed to run factories at their normal
levels when restrictions were brought in to combat the spread
of the Covid-19 pandemic in Europe.
