Slump in China’s bauxite, fused alumina exports eases, but tough Q2 ahead
Published: Wednesday, 29 April 2020
The decline in shipments of refractory-grade bauxite and fused alumina out of China eased off toward the end of the first quarter of 2020, compared with the plunge of more than 30% year-on-year seen in January and February.
This was because of a gradual recovery in operations and
logistics since the middle of February. But the reduced demand
from major overseas markets that has been seen since the second
half of March could lead to a tougher market in the second
quarter of the year, sources warned.
