Fused alumina prices have fallen further during the two weeks to Thursday May 14 because of continued bearish pressure resulting from weak demand from refractories consumers, while bauxite prices remained flat on a largely muted export market and scarcity of supply in China.

Prices for brown fused alumina (BFA) dropped for the second consecutive assessment, after a sharp fall two weeks ago. The price for white fused alumina (WFA) continued on the downtrend that started in the second half of March.

Both assessments have reached multi-year low points within each assessment period.
