Tightening supply supports weak foundry-grade chromite market

The foundry-grade chromite market rose in the week ended Tuesday May 26 in response to limited supply from South Africa, but price rises were damped by weak supply.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for chromite, foundry, 46% Cr2O3 min, wet bulk, fob South Africa, rose by $5 per tonne to $205-225 per tonne on Tuesday.

The corresponding assessment of the price for chromite, foundry, 46% Cr2O3 min, dried and bagged, fob South Africa, narrowed upward by $5 per tonne...
