Weak demand ends stable refractory bauxite prices; fused alumina falls further

Bearish market conditions for refractory raw materials amid the Covid-19 pandemic continued to weigh on prices, with all grades of calcined bauxite falling while the fused alumina price fell and is reportedly below cost of production, sources said.

Fastmarkets’s latest fortnightly assessment for bauxite, refractory-grade, 85%/2.0/3.15-3.2 (0-6mm), fob Xingang dropped to $395-405 per tonne on Thursday June 11 from $395-405 per tonne the week before.
