Chromite markets under pressure from low mid-summer demand

A seasonal slowdown in demand has put bearish pressure on chromite prices amid the continuing economic concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic, and market participants have warned that supply issues could trigger additional price volatility in the coming weeks.

Prices for both foundry and chemical grades of chromite edged off slightly over the week ended Tuesday July 14, following a few weeks of thin trading.
