Abrasive-grade silicon carbide prices drift lower on weaker market sentiment

Prices for abrasive-grade silicon carbide dropped over the past month, with volatility from other abrasive industrial minerals filtering through due to slack demand.

The weakening exchange rate between the United States dollar and the Euro also played a role, sources told Fastmarkets, noting that the major exporter of silicon carbide is China and export prices are dollar denominated.
