Iodine market seeks safety in contract business as spot prices weaken

The monthly contract iodine price was steady in August, while the weekly spot iodine price softened over the past week amid a drop in trading volumes due to a continued decrease in consumption.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for iodine, 99.5% min, contract, delivered United States/Europe, cif Asia was $34-37 per kg on Thursday August 27, unchanged for a second month in a row.

Industry participants noted a change in market dynamics in recent months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
