China's refractory materials output down 14% in H1 on pandemic effects

Slow downstream demand for refractory materials amid the Covid-19 pandemic in the first half of 2020 weighed heavily on the raw material market, with output falling by 13.75% to 10.48 million tonnes year on year in the period.

Of the total, 5.61 million tonnes was density shaped refractory products, down by 16.34% from January-June 2019, and 4.56 million tonnes were unshaped refractory products, down by 11.51% year on year, according to data from the China Association of Refractories.
