Chinese bauxite, fused alumina exports up in August after slow July

China’s export shipments of bauxite and fused alumina increased month-on-month in August for the first time since March-April 2020, reflecting a bottoming-out of trading volumes in July and signs of a slow recovery, according to market sources.

The earlier rise was seen when exports improved on the clearance of delays resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

China exported 42,940 tonnes of non-metallurgical grade bauxite (HS Code: 25083000) in August. This was down by 43% from 75,854 tonnes in August 2019, but up by 20.54% from 35,622 tonnes in...
