Fastmarkets proposes to discontinue three lithium contract price assessments.

Fastmarkets understands these three assessments are not reflective of current pricing dynamics in the lithium sector and to focus on its core markets.

The prices to be discontinued are as follows:

The above-mentioned prices are not assessed as individual grades but inferred using the price assessments of other standalone contract price assessments.

As a result, the discontinuation of these inferred price assessments will not change the value offering for Fastmarkets subscribers as the base price assessments will continue to be published.

Fastmarkets understands that the remaining lithium contract price assessments published are the most representative of the existing lithium market structure.

The three inferred contract lithium prices are calculated as follows:

The lithium hydroxide 56.5-57.5% LiOH.H2O, large contracts, packed in drums or bags, delivered Europe/US assessment is inferred using the bottom end and the top end of the following price assessments:

MB-LI-0021 Lithium hydroxide monohydrate min 56.5% LiOH.H2O technical and industrial grades, contract prices DDP Europe and US, $/kg

MB-LI-0025 Lithium hydroxide monohydrate min 56.5% LiOH.H2O battery grade, contract prices DDP Europe and US, $/kg

The lithium carbonate 99-99.5% Li2CO3 min, large biannual contracts, del continental US assessment is inferred using the bottom end and the top end of the following assessments:

MB-LI-0018 Lithium carbonate min 99% Li2CO3 technical and industrial grades, contract prices DDP Europe and US, $/kg

MB-LI-0022 Lithium carbonate min 99.5% Li2CO3 battery grade, contract prices DDP Europe and US, $/kg

The lithium carbonate 99-99.5% Li2CO3 min, large contracts, packed in bags, cif Asia assessment is inferred using the bottom end and the top end of the following assessments:

MB-LI-0026 Lithium carbonate min 99% Li2CO3 technical and industrial grades, contract prices cif China, Japan & Korea, $/kg

MB-LI-0027 Lithium carbonate min 99.5% Li2CO3 battery grade, contract prices cif China, Japan & Korea, $/kg

The consultation period for the discontinuation of these three prices will end one month after the date of this pricing notice, on November 9, 2020, with changes taking place, subject to market feedback, from November 10, 2020.
