WSAC 2020: Global soda ash demand to fall 6.2% in 2020, IHS says

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit soda ash end markets severely enough to cause a 6.2% drop in global consumption this year, delegates were told at the latest World Soda Ash Conference, held online, on October 19-22.

Every region across the world will see a fall in demand, with global volumes down by 3.8 million tonnes, according to Marguerite Morrin, executive director of soda ash at HIS, who presented the keynote paper at the event.
