UK regulator challenges Tronox’s purchase of TiZir

The UK Competition and Market Authority will conduct a further investigation on the potential effect of Tronox’s purchase of the TiZir titanium feedstock business from Eramet, the two companies said on Monday January 4.

The deal, signed on May 12, 2020, would see UK-headquartered Tronox purchase 100% of Eramet’s Norwegian TiZir titanium slag plant.

As a standard part of the UK regulatory process, Tronox has the option to offer remedies before a phase 2 investigation is launched.
