Spot European soda ash cargoes emerge in long market after pandemic

After a year of weak demand for soda ash, "excess" spot cargoes have been offered out of Europe to as far afield as South Africa, market participants told Fastmarkets.

The European soda ash market is ordinarily serviced by long-term contracts which leave little material available on the spot market and results in fairly stable pricing for most of the year.
